RUANG KITA – MAFRAQ, JORDAN

Jordan has allowed Syrian refugee children to access public schools, and many have enrolled. The Ministry of Education operates double-shift schools (morning and afternoon sessions) to accommodate both Jordanian and Syrian students. The second shift, typically in the afternoon, is usually reserved for refugee children. Despite the Jordanian government’s efforts, the education of Syrian refugees in Jordan continues to face several challenges – overcrowding, shortened hours, quality of education, psychosocial and language barriers. Hence, CHILDRITY embark on RUANG Kita project.

  • RUANG Kita, a cabin school in the Abu Abdullah Camp in Mafraq, Jordan. This refugees camp is made up of 28 Syrian families.
  • RUANG Kita offers alternative learning pathways to 35 primary school students and 8 preschoolers to help students bridge learning gaps and prepare for potential enrollment in formal schools.
  • RUANG Kita administers 5 days a week, Sunday to Thursday from 8am to 11am for the primary education whereas 12pm to 3pm for preschool.
  • The school emphasizes Arabic, Mathematics, English and Islamic studies.
  • The management cost, the teaching cost and learning materials cost for the first 2 years is approximated RM200,000.

Let’s stand by us to sustain this #RUANGkita as we believe every child deserves the rights to education.
